Keng-chio = banana
Oan-oan = curved shape, something is slightly crooked
ex. Chit-ki iân-pit oan-oan. = This pencil is crooked.
Gōa-bīn = outside
ex. Góa tī gōa-bīn tán lí。 I wait for you outside.
N̂g = yellow
ex. Chit-ki iân-pit sī n̂g se̍k ê. = This pencil is in yellow color.
Lāi-té = inside
ex. Nâ-á lāi-té ū chi̍t pî keng-chio = There is a hand of banana in the basket.
Seⁿ-chò = appear to be, by nature
ex. Chit-ê gín-á seⁿ-chò chin iân-tâu。 = Êng-thiⁿ looks very handsome.
Pe̍h = white
ex. Chit niá saⁿ sī pe̍k-sek—ê .
Koh = and, again, also, moreover
ex. Keng-chio chia̍h liáu koh ū kam-á thang chia̍h = After finish eating banana, there is still orange available.
Nńg = soft
ex. Chi̍t tiâu keng-chio khah nńg = This banana is softer.
Beh chia̍h = want to eat
ex. Beh chia̍h keng-chio ài ka-kī khì bé. = If you want to eat banana, you need to buy it yourself.
ài = must, have to, love…
ex. Góa ài chia̍h keng-chio ko-ko ài chia̍h kam-á. = I like to eat banana, Ko-ko likes to eat orange.
peh phôe = peel
ex. To-siā thè Góa peh kam-á phôe。= Thank you for peeling off the orange skin for me.
chia̍h-liáu = done eating
ex. Ma-ma bé ê keng-chio, góa í-keng chia̍h-liáu = I have already eaten up all the banana Mama bought.
chhun = remain,left over
ex. Nâ-á lāi-té kan-na chhun chi̍t lia̍p kam-á. There is only one orange left in the basket.
tiâu = a strip, classifier adjunct for something narrow and long like banana, rope etc..
ex. Chi̍t tiâu só-á chin tn̂g. = This rope is very long.
keng-chio-phôe = banana skin
ex. Sit loân chia̍h keng-chio phôe,chin kan-khó͘。= There is a saying: Eating banana skin relieves love- sick. That sucks.
káu-koài = naughty
ex. Chit-ê gín-á siūⁿ káu-koài, hō Pa-pa phah. = This child is too naughty, got punishment by Papa.
the̍h-khì = bring out
ex. Kā chit pî keng-chio the̍h-khì hō lín Pa-pa chia̍h = Bring this hand of banana to your Papa to eat.
tàn =to throw, to cast
ex. keng-chio-phôe m̄-thang o-pe̍h tàn. = Do not litter banana skin.

ex. Tī toh-á-téng ū nn̄g tiâu keng-chio. = There are two fingers of banana on the table.
a-peh = father’s elder brother, aged men
ex. A-peh s ī goán Pa-pa ê hiaⁿ-ko。= A-peh is Dad’s elder brother.
ta̍h = to step on
ex. Ta̍h--tio̍h keng-chio-phôe, poa̍h chi̍t tó!= step on the banana skin , fall
chit ē = as soon as , one step
O͘-hûn chi̍t ē kàu , ō͘ to̍h ē lâi .

chhū =to slip
ex. Kám beh khì chhū seh?= Want to go skiing?
